Johannesburg – Wednesday, 18 May 2022 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) congratulates Ms. Leanne Manas on being bestowed the Chevalier de l’Ordre national du Mérite (Knight of the French National Order of Merit).

This prestigious honour was presented to Ms. Manas last night, by H.E. Mr. Aurélien Lechevallier, the Ambassador of France to South Africa, of behalf of France’s President, Emmanuel Macron.

According to the press statement by the Ambassador’s office, “this high honor recognizes her immense contribution to journalism, media and various important charitable causes. It is a recognition of her extraordinary talent and resilience on our TV screens as she continues to inform South Africans through her daily programme Morning Live, which she has been hosting on South Africa’s public broadcaster SABC for almost two decades”.

“The public broadcaster is proud that Ms. Manas’ hard work and dedication to our SABC 2 news platform Morning Live, continues to have a profound impact and resonance with audiences across the globe after all these years”, commented Ms. Deidre Uren, the SABC’s Acting Group Executive: News and Current Affairs”.  “We applaud her for continuously flying the South African flag high”, concluded Ms Uren.

Johannesburg –Wednesday, 18 May 2022– Ukhozi FM management regrets to inform the station’s listeners that three (3)members of the breakfast show team have been unscheduled following an internal investigation. These members are the host and two Producers of the show.

Management will not discuss this matter further as it an employer-employee relationship governed by the Corporation’s policies. Management has put measures in place to ensure continuity of the show. Siya Mhlongo is the stand-in Presenter who will co-host the show with Nonhlanhla ‘Mroza’ Buthelezi.

Johannesburg – Friday, 13 May 2022 – SABC Sport  is set to deliver an incredible sporting line-up this weekend. The audiences can look forward to exhilarating and diverse sporting action comprising of local and international offerings.

This weekend, SABC Sport will cater for football, motor racing and Rugby fans. The action will kickstart tonight at 21h00 with CAF Championship League semi-final second leg match between Wydad Athletics Club and Petro De Luanda on SABC DTT Channel 4, Openview 124, TelkomONE.

On Saturday, 14 May 2022 SABC Sport  will feature   motorsport with day one (1) of the Formula E 2022 Berlin e-prix race qualifying at 10h30 SABC Sport on DTT Channel 4 and Openview 124 and these will also be available on TelkomONE. Round 7 of the same race will be broadcast at 14h30 on the same platforms. Sunday will mark the second day of the Berlin E Prix race at 10h30 and Round 8 at 14h30 on the same platforms.

Football fans will be spoiled with a great selection of football matches from the DSTV Premiership, Bundesliga Football League, CAF Championship League and the HollywoodBets Super League. The DSTV Premiership will feature the Baroka FC and Supersport United on SABC 1 at 14h30.

The German Premier Football Competition, the Bundesliga concludes its 2021/22 season with matches on Saturday, 14 May 2022. The 59^th season concludes with VFL Wolfsburg and Bayern München match at 13h30 on S3 and the second match, Borussia Dortmund vs Hertha BSC will be available live on TelkomONE at 15h30 and will be re-broadcast at 20h00 on SABC 1 to conclude the end of season for 2021/22.

Saturday will also feature the second leg of the CAF Champions League semifinal match between ES Setif vs Al Ahly at 21h00 on SABC DTT Channel 4, Open View 124, TelkomOne and SABC Radio Stations.   On Sunday Al Ahly Tripoli will meet Orlando Pirates at 17h30 and at 21:00 TP Mazembe vs RS Berkane will be broadcast on the same platforms

SABC Sport will on Sunday, 15 May broadcast the HollywoodBets Super League match between Bloemfontein Celtic FC and Tsunami Queens FC live on SABC 1, DTT channel and SABC Radio stations at 14h30 and the match will also be available on TelkomONE as well as SABC Sport digital pages.

Rugby fans can also look forward to the thrilling Heritage Rugby match between Abe Midas Naka Bulls and TUKS on Saturday, 14 May 2022 at 18h30 on SABC 2, DTT, TelkomONE and will livestream on SABC Sport Facebook and YouTube pages.

Johannesburg – Saturday, 7 May 2022 – SABC Sport will launch exciting new weekdays sport programmes on METRO FM and Radio 2000 from Monday, 9 May 2022 at 18h00-19h00.

The new METRO FM sports show, ‘METRO FM Sport Night Amplified with Andile’ is a positive change to maintain optimal performance of SABC Sport and METRO FM brands. It is also a strategic response to the highly competitive and fragmented media environment. Andile Ncube who has made an incredible mark as one of the country’s best Sports radio and television Presenters, will deliver the show. His versatility allows him to relate easily to the diverse audiences on both SABC radio and television sport platforms.

The new show will not only feature the news related to matches and players of various sporting codes but will also focus on featuring key educational elements of the sporting business such as the acquisition of sponsorships for clubs and how they make revenue. In addition, amplified listener engagement will be prioritised in this programme through voice notes, direct calls in studio as well as thought-provoking analytical discussions which extend into digital platforms.

Radio 2000’s ‘Game Time’ presented by Motshidisi Mohono is set to deliver a cross-generational appeal to the stations’ audience. Motshidisi Mohono is an award-winning Sport Broadcaster who has vast experience in various established sport environments. She brings a wealth of knowledge in different sporting codes to the show making her a perfect fit to present the magazine show. The programme will include features such as sport news updates, audience interaction, in depths interviews and sport trivia.

Johannesburg- Friday, 6 May 2022 – 5FM has announced some exciting changes to its presenter line-up for 2022.

The station refreshed its line-up with a major shake-up last year, one that proved highly successful as it saw a healthy increase in both listenership and revenue.  Therefore, the current  changes focus on the weekend line-up, with the weekday shows remaining unchanged.

The 5 Weekend Breakfast show, Saturdays and Sundays from 07:00 to 10:00, sees some fresh new voices joining the station, with Minnie Ntuli as presenter, Monique de Villiers on News and Aaron Masemola on Sport. The new 5 Weekend Breakfast show will be hitting the airwaves from the 7^th of May 2022.

Other weekend changes include an extended show with Kea Boya on 5 Weekend Afternoons, Saturdays from 14:00 to 18:00. and Sundays from 14:00 to 18:00. A brand-new voice in the form of Yonaka Theledi will be joining the show to bring listeners all the news they need to know.

Fans of Selective Styles on 5 will be delighted to hear that Kid Fonque’s airplay will also be extended. The show has been hugely popular since inception, topping the trend charts and bringing listeners closer to amazing, exclusive sounds from artists around the globe. Tune in to Selective Styles on 5 every Sunday from 18:00 to 21:00.
