SABC RESPONDS TO FALSE AND MISLEADING ARTICLE BY SUNDAY WORLD

Johannesburg- Monday, 07 December 2020- The SABC Board has noted an article in the Sunday World headlined “Broadcaster Blasts News Boss” dated 6 December 2020 and written by journalist Aubrey Mothombeni. The article contains several false, misleading and completely fictitious information about alleged SABC Board’s decision on the Group Executive: News and Current Affairs, Ms Phathiswa Magopeni.

SABC WELCOMES THE LABOUR COURT JUDGEMENT ON THE SECTION 189 PROCESS

Johannesburg – Wednesday, 2 December 2020– The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) is pleased with today’s judgement by the Labour Court of South Africa, in the matter pertaining to BEMAWU and the SABC. The Labour Court dismissed, with costs, BEMAWU’s application to declare the Section 189 consultation process as irregular and invalid as well the withdrawal of the redundancy letters.

Muvhango actress Vho Masindi gets capped for a PhD .

Her thesis done in TshiVenda was about women abuse through dialogue on drama books written by male writers. The contention of the thesis was that because most if not all the drama books were written by men, women are often portrayed in a very negative light and are hardly portrayed as intelligent creatures who can think and make decisions for themselves.

SABC DISPOSES OF ITS NON-CORE RESIDENTIAL PROPERTIES

Johannesburg – Friday, 27 November 2020 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) will be issuing notices of termination of lease agreements for its non-core properties, following an extensive process in line with Section 54(2) (d) of the Public Finance Management Act (“PFMA”) for the disposal of non-core assets. These include residential properties which are being leased to SABC employees and non-employees.
