THE SABC WELCOMES THE RULING OF THE HIGH COURT REGARDING MICHAEL OWEN PRODUCTION’S URGENT APPLICATION TO INTERDICT UKHOZI FM’S ‘INGOMA EHLUKANISA UNYAKA’

Johannesburg – Thursday, 31 December 2020 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) welcomes today’s Court Order of the High Court of South Africa, Gauteng Local Division in Johannesburg striking off from the roll an urgent application brought by Mr. Owen Ndlovu’s Michael Owen Production (MOP), for lack of urgency. Michael Owen Production has been ordered to pay the legal costs of the SABC on an attorney and clients scale, including costs of counsel.

SABC EDUCATION LAUNCHES THE 2020 MATRIC RESULTS SERVICES

Johannesburg – Thursday, 31 December 2020 – SABC Education in partnership with the Department of Basic Education (DBE) in “Enriching Minds, Enriching Lives” is launching its Matric Results service, which will run from 31 December 2020 until 29 February 2021.

Johannesburg, Tuesday 22 December 2020– The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) radio station SAfm, is pleased to announce that Mr. Aldrin Sampear will be the new host of SAfm’s afternoon drive talk show Beyond The Headline 15h00 – 18h00 Weekdays. Mr. Sampear will start presenting the show from 04 January 2021.

UKHOZI FM’S INGOMA EHLUKANISA UNYAKA CAMPAIGN CONTINUES

Durban – Friday, 18 December 2020 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has noted the public interest in Ukhozi FM’s ‘Ingoma Ehlukanisa Unyaka’ campaign.  This campaign which calls on listeners to vote for their favourite song, out of the Top 10 songs of the station, will continue despite threats from Mr. Yhulani Owen Ndlovu of Michael Owen Productions (MOP).

SABC TAKES NOTE OF A WEBSITE ADVERTISING NON-EXISTENT SABC LEARNERSHIP FOR 2021

Johannesburg – Thursday, 17 December 2020 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has noted a post circulating on social media platforms, inviting people to apply for the Film and Television learnership programme. The link contained in the post, directs the public to opportunists4youth.co.za, a website which has published misleading information regarding the SABC’s learnership programme for the year 2021.

HACK OF TV LICENCE WEBSITE RESOLVED

Johannesburg – Friday, 11 December 2020 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) is pleased to announce that the hack of its TV license website, www.tvlicences.co.za has been resolved.

The SABC is committed to safeguarding the privacy of its clients’ details and will be taking further measures in this regard. The public broadcaster once again apologises to the public for this unfortunate incident.

The amended report is published in compliance with the High Court which ordered that reference to Mr Matlou in the initial report be excised and deleted from the report

SABC RESPONDS TO FALSE AND MISLEADING ARTICLE BY SUNDAY WORLD

Johannesburg- Monday, 07 December 2020- The SABC Board has noted an article in the Sunday World headlined “Broadcaster Blasts News Boss” dated 6 December 2020 and written by journalist Aubrey Mothombeni. The article contains several false, misleading and completely fictitious information about alleged SABC Board’s decision on the Group Executive: News and Current Affairs, Ms Phathiswa Magopeni.
