Polokwane Wednesday, 27 March 2024 – Munghana Lonene FM is delighted to announce changes to enhance its line-up, effective from Monday, 1 April 2024.

 

The station will be increasing time allocated for the talk show ‘Afrika wa Vulavula’  by one hour from 12h00 to 14h00, whilst ‘Dzumba na Mina’, a music show will broadcast from 14h00 to 15h00. The popular adult content talk show ‘Gongomela’ continues to broadcast at 00h00 to 03h00 from Mondays to Fridays and will continue to be hosted by Risimati ‘N’wana n’wa Gee’.

 

On Saturdays, Munghana Lonene FM listeners will continue with seasoned broadcaster and household name, Sydney Baloyi who is joined by co-host Ike Ngobeni for the Saturday breakfast show ‘N’wayitelo wa Mugqibela’ from 07h00 to 09h00.

 

Quinton ‘The Qunitonizer’ Baloyi joins Foster ‘Mafosi – Try by force’ Chauke to present the station’s signature Xitsonga traditional music show ‘Timitsu ta Xitsonga’ on Saturdays from 13h00 to 15h00. Popular preacher Dr. KS Maluleke will continue presenting the Sunday morning gospel show ‘Sisimuka u vangama’ with Maningi wa Ntamu from 06h00 to 09h00. Dr Maluleke will be based at the station’s Giyani satellite studios.

 

Munghana Lonene FM is excited to launch its new profile programme ‘Phuphu ya Rixaka’, which means “pillar of the nation” in Xitsonga. This YouTube-based programme aims to inspire listeners by showcasing the incredible stories of individuals who have overcome adversity to achieve success.

 

Phuphu ya Rixaka’ interviews will give the audiences a unique glimpse into the lives of some truly remarkable people. The station will be uncovering untold stories and events that have shaped their lives and sharing their personal experiences. This programme is part of Munghana Lonene FM’s digital growth strategy, and the station is proud to be preserving historical events and personal stories for future generations. It will be hosted by Africa wa Vulavula Khalanga and Pat Mathebula and produced by the multi-talented Munghana Lonene FM Breakfast show host DJ Brian (Brian Rikhotso).

 

‘Phuphu ya Rixaka’ isn’t just about entertainment, it is also about fostering cultural understanding and harmony. By sharing different perspectives and viewpoints on different issues, the station hopes to bring people together and promote a more inclusive society. And let’s not forget the power of profile interviews to capture moments in time. ‘Phuphu ya Rixaka’ – the programme that celebrates the intellectual heritage of our nation. Documentaries will be done by Foster Chauke aka ‘Try by Force’, addressing monthly themes.

MEDIA STATEMENT | CHANNEL AFRICA GOES 24 HOURS AND INTRODUCES A FEW NEW VOICES TO ITS LINE-UP

Johannesburg – Wednesday, 27 March 2024 – Channel Africa is excited to announce that it will be retaining its existing line-up and introducing a few new presenters, as the station’s broadcast schedule goes for 24 hours.

The platform will be introducing two new Informal Knowledge Building Programmes titled “The Morning Reset” which will be hosted by Javulani Nkolele on Mondays to Fridays from 03h00 -06h00. The same timeslot on weekends will be presented by “The Shy Guy” Thabo Matshaka under the title “The Morning Switch”.

The afternoon drive time show “The Upside” will be joined by seasoned radio presenter “Mo G” Mpho Madise who will work alongside Nompumelelo Ngubeni between 14h00 and 17h00 CAT. Another noticeable change will take form on the evening programme, “Afrika Tonight” between 21h00 and 00h00, which will now be presented by Sheila Ndikumana alongside the station’s new talent, Tebogo Lekhuleni.

“Afro Republic”, hosted by Morris Muvunzi will gain an additional hour to its live broadcast from 00h00 to 03h00 on Mondays to Fridays, all the way from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.

Presenter, Chandu Ligege will take over as the host of “Africa In Song” previously presented by retired veteran Richard Nwamba on Sundays from 00h00-03h00. Chandu will also take over the “Midnight Snack”, which broadcasts on Mondays at the same timeslot from 00h00-03h00.

MEDIA STATEMENT | MOTSWEDING FM LAUNCHES 2024/2025 LINE UP

Mahikeng Tuesday, 26 March 2024 – In its quest to achieve a desired goal of maximising impact and reach through the use of FM, digital, and on the ground productions for the year 2024/2025, Motsweding FM will be effecting minimal changes to its current line-up. This is to beef up content delivery and also to introduce a new generation of female Setswana presenters.

Aligning with the United Nation’s (UN) Goal 5 which stipulates that  “Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls”, Motsweding FM introduces two female presenters who will form part of the on-air team, and they bring versatility and the much needed linguistic prowess. Lebo Ndiya Molefe will present Megagamola on Fridays from 20h00 to 24h00 with DJ Nash. Boitumelo “Mizer” Mafole will take over Bosigogare on Saturdays and Sundays from 00h00 to 03h00.

Lebo Ndiya Molefe is a product of community radio and has earned recognition in that space. She is a singer, MC, and brand ambassador. Her love for music and Setswana as a young person born post 1994 will greatly assist in attracting young audiences for the station and also in maximizing on digitized content that will form a critical part of the audience attraction strategy based on the convergence of FM and Digital.

Boitumelo “Mizer” Mafole is not a stranger to Motsweding FM, as she joined the station in 2016 and left to pursue personal development goals in 2018. Mizer is a DJ, sound engineer, socialite, and is very passionate about community development. She will also immensely contribute to the growth and impact that Motsweding plans to achieve.

Don Makhosi will host Kgolagano on Sundays between 09h00-12h00, and the station wishes to express its appreciation to Rre Modisane Modise who has been in radio broadcasting spanning over four decades Rre Modisane plans  will be a religious contributor for various religious segments. Motswedi wa Jazz with Bra Sly will move to the 18h00-20h00 slot, Tsosoloso with Brown Mosiapoa will move to the 20h00-21h00 time channel.

According to Mamontha Motaung, Motsweding FM’s Business Manager: “The minimal changes effected signals consistency and growth in terms of revenue and audiences. The introduction of two female broadcasters heralds an era of a generation of additional females in the Setswana broadcasting landscape”

MEDIA STATEMENT | THOBELA FM ANNOUNCES LINE-UP FOR 2024-25

Polokwane – Tuesday, 26 March 2024 – Thobela FM will be introducing major changes for the 2024/25 line-up with the purpose of attracting and retaining loyal listeners in line with their needs, looking at the demands and environmental changes within the radio landscape. These changes will be effective from 1 April 2024. The changes were announced today on the ‘Tabakgolo Talk Show’ between 12h00 and 13h00.

The Morning drive show, ’Ditlalemiso’ broadcast from 06h00 to 09h00, Monday to Friday, will be co-hosted by Leonard “Lenny T” Legodi and adding the dynamic Lethabo ‘Lejoy’ Mathatho. Lethabo is an experienced skilled presenter, with a history of working on both Radio and Television Industries.

Veteran presenter Mankoko Mokhari will be presenting ‘Eba Lenna’.

The afternoon drive show ‘Ntshirogele’ will be presented well-known Radio presenter and Tv Personality Skhumbuzo Mbata and he will be joined by the Madam Speaker of the airwaves Poelano Setwaba.

On Sunday mornings from 02h00-06h00, listeners will continue with ‘Exton Mmoue’. The station’s Youth Show ‘Moswa Le Bokamoso’ broadcast Monday to Friday from 21h00 to 22h00, will hosted by a new presenter who will be scouted through a talent search competition. ‘Weekend Monate Breakfast’ will be hosted by Dynamic presenter Nkgadimeng Kekana.

MEDIA STATEMENT | SA FM LINE-UP FY2024 – 2025

Johannesburg – Tuesday, 26 March 2024 – SAfm, the only national talk radio station in South Africa has been building on a positive audience growth trajectory in the past year and is set to carry on with this trend in the next radio year.

Positioned to lead the conversations that moves the nation, SAfm is excited to announce its line-up effective 1 April 2024.

Schedule consistency has been the cornerstone of stability and growth at SAfm over the recent years and to this end, Stephen Grootes will remain as the anchor of ‘SAfm Sunrise’ from 06h00 to09h00. Cathy Mohlalana carries on with ‘The Talking Point’ from 09h00 until12h00with Sakina Kamwendo on ‘Update at Noon’ between 12h00 and13h00 and ‘The Full Circle’ with Bridget Masinga from 13h00 to 15h00.

The station bids farewell to Aldrin Sampear, the host of Beyond The Headline (BTH). Aldrin departs from SAfm after a successful period with the station to embark on other ventures. He has had a great relationship with the station and audiences whilst bringing a warm sound to afternoon talk radio. Aldrin said that ‘I’m immensely grateful to the management of SAfm for taking a risk on me, to the BTH crew behind the scenes who have ensured a smooth take off, thank you. I leave a much better journalist and broadcaster and for that I give credit to our listeners and guests who have graced us with their time and challenged us to think harder. I’m going to miss this place, all the best with the growth of the station’.

Talk radio authority Ashraf Garda returns to SAfm after a five-year radio hiatus to host ‘The National Pulse’ weekdays between15h00  and 18h00. Ashraf is a seasoned broadcaster, having previously been at SAfm from 2010 until 2019, with notable experience in current affairs, television journalism, being a highly sort after media consultant and moderator amongst many attributes. He returns to champion and further entrench the positioning of SAfm in leading conversations that move the nation especially in our election year, with his brand of engaging, honest, yet robust broadcasting.

Experienced SAfm sports anchor Zai Khan takes over the Saturday 19h00 to 21h00 time channel with the introduction of a new sports show, ‘Sport Light’. This show will be a one-stop shop, providing the latest local and international sporting news, results, interviews and lifestyle content with a spotlight on women’s sports as well as sports development in our communities.

Jon Gericke, who previously hosted ‘Sport Trax’ on Saturday evenings, will host a new show, ‘The Weekend’ on Saturday and Sunday from 22h00 until 00h00. The show will be an eclectic mix of nostalgic music, sing-a-longs and late-night conversations with Jon. Sheila Ndikumana, who currently hosts ‘Music of Africa’ on weekend early mornings, brings more premium contemporary sounds of Africa to SAfm as she takes over the Sunday 19h00 – 21h00 time channel. Sheila will be presenting ‘Rhythm of Africa’, which sees contemporary African music, artists and lifestyle take centerstage on SAfm.

MEDIA STATEMENT | LOTUS FM ANNOUNCES 2024-2025 LINE-UP

Durban – Tuesday, 26 March 2024 – Lotus FM, South Africa’s only national Indian radio station, is excited to introduce its new show and presenter line-up, which will take effect from 1 April 2024. The station will be introducing minor changes to the existing line-up to ensure consistency with its audience whilst introducing new talent to the station

. All weekday daytime shows remain unchanged, with the award-winning Breakfast Express with O’Neil and Shaastra, the mid-morning show; Style In The City hosted by the vibrant Krsna Priya Dasa, Varshan Sookhun on the Lunch Break and The Drive By hosted by the charismatic Neelofar Sayed, continuing in their regular daily slots.

New presenters include Keshav Dass who joins the station to host The Night Café, Monday to Thursday, 21:00 until 00:00. Keshav joins from a local community station and is sure to keep listeners entertained with great content and cool jams. Well-known Rivash Davnaryan takes over The Weekend Explosion, weekends from 09:00 until12:00, whilst popular DJ Jovan Moonsamy will host Saturday’s club show, The Dance Lab, from 21:00 to00:00, mixing the best in fusion music. Weekend breakfast welcomes the ever-bubbly Samantha Darsan who will be hosting The Weekend Recharge with Koobeshen Naidoo and Sunday Sizzle with Mohamed Vawda on Saturday and Sunday mornings between 06:00 and 09:00 respectively.

 

The legendary Mala Lutchmanan remains as the language presenter of the Tamil language show In – Isai – Mazhai on Fridays at 18:00 to19:00, whilst Dhanaseelan Doorasamy takes over the South Indian chart show, Best of Kodambakkam.

MEDIA STATEMENT | TRUFM ANNOUNCES TRUTALENT WINNERS AND NEW LINE-UP FOR 2024/2025

Gqeberha – Friday, 22 March 2024 – trufm, the Eastern Cape’s youth radio station, has revealed the winners of its truTalent competition and unveiled its lineup for the upcoming 2024/2025 season. The announcement took place at the Bluewater Bay Sunrise Hotel during the hotel’s third anniversary celebration. In partnership with Vodacom and the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA), trufm conducted a three-month tour across the Eastern Cape to find talented radio presenters and DJs.

 

Listeners were given the chance to vote for their favourite radio presenter, sports presenter, and DJ. This year saw a significant increase in participation, with 202,371 votes cast, which was a 130% rise from last year’s competition.

 

Thembalethu Hope Maweni won the Radio Presenter category, Bongumsa Makaba claimed the Sports Presenter category, and Athenkosi Ndzombane emerged as the winner in the DJ category. Each winner will receive a one-year contract with the station, cash prizes, and Vodacom data.

 

Looking ahead to the 2024/2025 season, trufm has revamped and reshuffled its lineup with the addition of fresh and experienced presenters, reaffirming its commitment to its youthful audience and enhancing its brand promise as the voice of the Eastern Cape’s youth.

 

Radio Award winner, Thembela King Booi, joins the station as the anchor of the afternoon drive time show, “truDrive”, airing Mondays – Fridays from 15h00 to 18h00. He will be joined by Sinesipho Booi as the co-presenter. Sinesipho made her mark as a presenter on the local community radio station, Nkqubela FM, as well as a field presenter for news channel. Sanele Nongauza will remain with the team as the sports presenter.

 

Mam K, whose presenting responsibilities have extended beyond trufm, will still anchor “Hlalani Kum Mna Ndihlale Kuni” on Mondays and Tuesdays from 19h00 to 22h00. On Wednesdays from 19h00 to 22h00, Onela Sigobelwana, a Christian influencer and former presenter on Kumkani FM, will host a new faith show called “Abide in Him”. On Thursdays from 19h00 to 22h00, Abongile Mangala will host a gospel show called “Thirst For Life”.

 

Every Friday and Saturday from 21h00 to 00h00, the multi-talented television and radio presenter, Samora Mangesi, will be the new host of “truHits”.

 

Luzuko “Kemp” Qoba will be the new presenter for “trufm Top 30” on Saturdays from 09h00 to 12h00. Kemp has 10 years of experience in radio and cut his teeth on Nkqubela FM as well as Bay FM.

 

Siya Citwa, who started his radio career at Rhodes Music Radio before moving to Bay FM and finally Algoa FM, will host two new shows over the weekend: “The Urban Playground” on Saturdays from 12h00 to 15h00 and “Sunday Cruise” on Sundays from 15h00 to 17h00.

 

The station is also excited to welcome back AJ Mclean as the host of a new music show called “Choose Yourself” on Sundays from 12h00 to 15h00, and former truTalent winner, Ntombozuko Balintulo, as the host of “The Last Round” also on Sundays from 18h00 to 21h00.

Johannesburg – Thursday, 21 March 2024 –The management of METRO FM would like to set the record straight on a matter concerning a social media post that was published yesterday of an interview that was set to take place this morning.

Management cancelled the interview and ordered an immediate removal of the social media post based on its controversial content. An investigation has been instituted to address the matter.

Management regrets this incident; however, it must be noted that the SABC always endevours to provide fair and balanced content.

 Johannesburg – Thursday, 21 March 2024 –The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) is proud to announce the launch of the ’30 Years: A Tribute to Democracy campaign aimed at commemorating 30 years of democracy in the country.

The ’30 Years: A Tribute to Democracy’ campaign seeks to honor the invaluable progress, resilience, and collective efforts that have defined South Africa’s journey towards freedom and equality. The launch of this campaign coincides with Human Rights Day, an important day in the South African calendar.

The SABC has stood as a pillar of democracy, providing a platform for diverse voices, fostering dialogue, and championing transparency. Through our commitment to impartiality and integrity, we have played an integral role in shaping public discourse and empowering citizens to engage actively in the democratic process.

The ‘30 Years: A Tribute to Democracy’ campaign embodies the SABC’s dedication to commemorating the milestones and challenges in pursuit of a more just and inclusive society. Through a series of compelling programmes, documentaries, and interactive digital content, the SABC will reflect on the transformative impact of democracy on the nation’s history and collective identity.

The key highlights of the campaign include:

  • Documentary Series: Engaging narratives that explore the evolution of democracy in the country, featuring interviews with prominent figures, archival footage, and insightful analysis.
  • Public Forums: Thought-provoking discussions on pressing issues facing democracy, fostering dialogue between policymakers, activists, and citizens.

MEDIA STATEMENT | STATION LAUNCHES PHALAPHALA FM 2024/25 LINEUP

Polokwane – Thursday, 21 March 2024 – Phalaphala FM has introduced some line-up changes effective from 01 April 2024 in line with SABC radio strategy. The announcement of the line-up took place during the Rodigeda show on Wednesday 20 March 2024 and was live streamed on the station’s various social media platforms.

Madikana Matjila, the Limpopo Combo Business Manager was excited to announce the return of the famous Khoro, which will start at 00h00 until 03h00. The show will be hosted by a brand new presenter Tendani Mushasha.

The reactivation of the slot will assist in addressing the burning societal issues and Tendani Mushasha is an experienced presenter with great track record, hosting a podcast that deals with GBV related issues.

The station is continuing the breakfast show, Vhandilani, from 06h00 until 09h00. The show will be co-hosted by Terry “The Big Dude” Mudau and Tanganedzani Mbedzi.

Rofhiwa Nethengwe, who joined the station in 2006, will continue hosting her 09h00-12h00 show, Nne na Vhone. The programme appeals to male and female audiences in offices, in-transit, at home, etc.

Rotondwa Nelwamondo will maintain his 12h00 to 15h00 programme, Tshiko, which broadcasts from Monday to Friday and focuses of news, current affairs and topical issues such as  politics, economics, labour, education, and social issues in South Africa and around the world.

The afternoon drive show, Dzia Orowa, from 15h00 to 18h00 will continue being co-presented by Shandu ‘DJ Shh’ Lukhwareni and Tico Liphadzi from Monday to Friday.

Jones ‘Mr Lover Lover’ Netshipise present the 22h00 – 24h00 music show, Ri a dzedza, on Mondays to Thursdays, to bring listeners some of the best and greatest hits in the music industry. Rofhiwa Nekhumbe “G Voice” takes over Mulakhulu between 03h00 – 05h00. Meanwhile on weekends, he will also continue with his 06h00 – 09h00 Saturday breakfast show, Vhandilani nga mugivhela.

Dynamic Mpande Mulaudzi popularly known as “Miss P” will take over Phenyadzinwe, 21h00 – 24h00 on Fridays and Dikita, to bring to the listeners ears the Top 20 Local Kwaito and House Hits, and Hip-Hop and R&B tunes.

On Saturdays, Humbulani Nengovhela will be joining the 09h00 – 11h00 show, Nambi Ya dzinambi, which is a Music programme that focuses on traditional Tshivenda songs.

Ngavhelo Khavhu is still hosting the 12h00–14h00 Reggae music show on Saturdays.

Veteran radio presenter Mpho Nefale will continue to host the 18h00 – 21h00 show, Devhula Ha Vhembe (DV). Thereafter, Mpande Mulaudzi will take listeners through a music journey on the 21h00 – 24h00 show, which is a music programme and brings listeners entertainment news and Listener call-ins.

Phalaphala FM continues with Michael ‘Holy Mike’ Mabugana who will be hosting the 07h00 – 10h00 gospel shows, Gondo Vhugala, on Sundays.

Jones ‘Mr Lover Lover’ Netshipise will also host the 10h00 – 14h00 show, Vhugalatenga, on Sundays. Meanwhile Ngavhelo Khavhu will be presenting the 19h00 – 20h00 show, Lutendo, and the 20h00 – 21h00 show, Vhurereli ha Hashu on Sundays.
