Johannesburg, Friday, 08 May 2020 –The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has today met with the Collecting Societies, South African Music Performance Rights Association (SAMPRA) and Independent Music Performance Rights Association (IMPRA) to resolve the long-standing dispute on the allocation of needletime royalties.

Johannesburg – Tuesday 05 May 2020 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) is pleased to announce that the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has granted the public broadcaster “full exemption from compliance with the specific license terms and conditions of its sound and television services”. ICASA has further granted exemption from compliance with the local television content quotas. This exemption only applies to the SABC’s television services and not the radio or news services.

In line with the Corporation’s mandate, the new channel will broadcast public service content from the Department of Education, educational programmes currently available on SABC 1, 2, 3, and archived material produced by the SABC on a limited basis.

Cape Town-Wednesday 29 April 2020 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation’s Cape Town based commercial radio station, Good Hope FM is excited to announce a shake-up to its on-air line-up for 2020, in accordance with the station’s listener and regional demographics. The new line-up launches on-air on Monday, 4 May 2020 and Good Hope FM is pleased to announce that veteran radio personality, Stan Mars, will move from his current mid-morning show to host ‘The Big Breakfast with Stan Mars’ from 06:00 – 09:00.
