This statement inaccurately claims that a memo was issued to SABC employees “indicating a freeze of salary increases and hiring of new staff”. The fact is, on 27 September 2018 the SABC issued a notice to all staff members communicating the suspension of the following, with immediate effect:

Advocate Vanara brings a long distinguished legal career having worked in both the private and public sectors. He served successfully in various positions including his most recent role of Senior Manager of Legal and Constitutional Services at the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa.
Johannesburg, Sunday 30 September 2018 – The SABC has noted media reports alleging that the Democratic Alliance (DA) has written a letter to the SABC board chairperson, Bongumusa Makhathini requesting that the Zondo Judicial Commission of Inquiry into State Capture proceedings be aired live on the SABC’s terrestrial platforms, in addition to the current live broadcast on SABC News carried on the DStv channel 404. The State Capture enquiry is receiving extensive coverage across all bulletins, radio stations and television channels under the direction of the SABC’s editorial staff.

Johannesburg, Wednesday 26 September 2018 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) would like to alert the public to fake Facebook and Instagram accounts purporting to belong to the SABC’s Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), Mr Madoda Mxakwe.
It must be noted that Mr. Mxakwe is not on social media and does not have either a Facebook or Instagram account. Any account with his name and photograph is deemed fake and must be disregarded.
Cape Town – Tuesday, 25 September 2018 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) board and executive management team appeared before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Communications today to present the Corporation’s turnaround strategy. The Committee was very supportive and commended the SABC Board on its plans.
In the presentation, led by the SABC board chairperson, Bongumusa Makhathini, the SABC gave the committee assurance that the Board had put in place the required expertise and experience to turnaround and drive the SABC forward. These include the appointment of the executive board members namely, the Group Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Operations Officer and the Chief Financial Officer. The executive board members are responsible for driving the implementation of the turnaround strategy with the support of a competent executive management team.
CRICKET SOUTH AFRICA (CSA) and the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) today announced the joint exclusive partnership for the new 2018 T20 Cricket League. The partnership gives the SABC exclusive official broadcast rights for the Sub-Saharan region. The deal is covered by an MoU that will run for the next three years.
“This is a landmark moment for cricket in South Africa”, commented the Chief Executive of CSA, Thabang Moroe. “For the first time South Africa’s premier public broadcaster will have exclusive rights to a major cricket event and this is very much in line with CSA’s vision of making cricket a truly national sport of excellence that is accessible to all.”
Johannesburg – Friday, 21 September 2018 –The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) is pleased to announce that the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa (BCCSA) has ruled in its favour, in a complaint lodged by the Democratic Alliance (DA).
The DA had alleged that the SABC had provided the party insufficient opportunity to present opposing views to ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa’s address on the land reform issue and the economy.
Johannesburg – Thursday, 20 September 2018 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) welcomes the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) decision which ruled in favour of the SABC, in the case brought forward by Mr Hlaudi Motsoeneng against the organisation, regarding his dismissal.
