THE SABC STRONGLY CONDEMNS THREATS DIRECTED AT ITS JOURNALISTS

Johannesburg – Thursday, 25 July 2019 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) is extremely concerned about the latest death threats directed at its journalists who are covering various issues across the country, including instances of alleged corruption.

The public broadcaster has further noted, and is disturbed by recent instances of political and corporate bullying directed at its news service staff, with some of these happening on social media platforms.

SABC RESPONSE TO SUNDAY TIMES ARTICLE

Johannesburg – Sunday, 14 July 2019 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has noted the Sunday Time’s article published today ‘SABC’s plan cuts up to a third of staff’ and refutes the claims made in the story.

The SABC would like to put on record that it does not have any new plans to retrench staff, and the journalist only enquired about the 11 pre-conditions in relation to the SABC’s application for funding to National Treasury. There was no discussion around the issue of retrenchments.

SABC SADDENED BY THE PASSING OF VETERAN ACTRESS NOMHLE NKONYENI

Johannesburg – Wednesday 10 July 2019 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has learned with sadness, the passing of veteran actress Ms. Nomhle Nkonyeni.

THE SABC TERMINATES DJ FRESH’S CONTRACT WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT

 

Johannesburg – Tuesday, 09 July 2019 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) would like to announce that it has terminated the contract of Mr. Thato Sikwane also known as DJ Fresh, with immediate effect.

SAFM WELCOMES PHEMELO MOTENE AS HOST OF ‘SAfm LIFE HAPPENS’

Johannesburg, Friday 05 July 2019 – SAfm is pleased to announce that Ms Phemelo Motene will be joining the station from Monday, 08 July 2019.

 

Ms Motene is a well-known lifestyle presenter in the talk radio space and she will be taking over ‘SAfm Life Happens’ which is broadcast weekdays from 13:00 – 15:00.

SABC RADIO PARK BUILDING DECLARED SAFE

Johannesburg – Tuesday, 25 June 2019 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation’s (SABC) Radio Park building has been declared safe for occupation, following the fire which broke out earlier today.

Johannesburg – Thursday 06 June 2019 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) would like to announce the resignation of Ms. Nomsa Philiso, Group Executive: Television from the organisation.

Ms. Philiso, who has been with the SABC for 24 years, has served the Corporation in a variety of roles, from General Manager: Sales Operations, Group Executive: Commercial Enterprise and Television, to Acting Group Chief Executive Officer.
