SABC 3’s ‘THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL’ TO COME OFF THE SCHEDULE

Johannesburg, Saturday, 2 March 2019- The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) would like to announce that SABC 3’s soapie ‘The Bold and The Beautiful’ will no longer be broadcast on the channel, effective  4 March 2019.

SABC LAUNCHES CITIZEN-CENTRED PROGRAMME ‘DEMOCRACY GAUGE’

Johannesburg – Friday, 1 March 2019 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) is pleased to announce the launch of a multiplatform production called Democracy Gauge. The project, which commemorates 25 years of South Africa’s democracy, starts on Monday, 4 March 2019 and will run until the end of the year.

SABC UNDERGOING REVIEW OF CONTRACTS FOR FREELANCE ON-AIR TALENT

Johannesburg – Thursday, 28 February 2019 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) is in the process of reviewing contracts of freelance on-air talent in line with industry best practices. This is an annual process which takes place in February and March and is informed by various factors such as revenue, audience performance of the specific programmes or shows, return on investment, as well as the strategic direction of the various SABC platforms.

A GRAND 71 NOMINATIONS FOR THE SABC TV NETWORK AT THE 13TH SAFTA EDITION

SABC2 is once again the main broadcaster of the South African Film and Television awards  broadcasting live from Sun City for the third consecutive year. This year’s awards will take place on Saturday, 2nd March 2019, at 20:00 following a 30 minutes glitz and glam of the red- carpet from 19:00-19:30.

The TV Network celebrates a massive 71 nominations, proving to be amongst the leading broadcasters in the world.

SABC AND VIU SA ANNOUNCE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP

Johannesburg, Tuesday 19 February 2019 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has signed a license agreement with leading global over-the-top (OTT) video service Viu, operated by PCCW Media and Vuclip. Through the partnership, Viu gains exclusive digital rights to selected SABC titles, as well as a slate of  premium library content for a period of 24-months.

SABC UPDATE ON THE SECTION 189 OF THE LRA PROCESS

Johannesburg – Thursday, 31 January 2019 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) announced that today, 31 January 2019, marks the expiry of the notice of the consultation process between the SABC and Organised Labour as prescribed in terms of section 189 of the Labour Relations Act (LRA). This is a follow up to a communique the SABC sent to staff and leaders of Organised Labour on 6 December 2018, indicating that the contemplated section 189 of the LRA process would be held in abeyance until further notice.
