Johannesburg – Monday, 02 September 2019 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) would like to announce that its Board Chairperson, Mr. Bongumusa Makhathini, Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Madoda Mxakwe and Group Executive: News and Current Affairs, Ms. Phathiswa Magopeni will today be appearing before the Commission of Inquiry Into State Capture, which is chaired by Deputy Chief Justice, Raymond Zondo.

Johannesburg–Wednesday, 28 August 2019-The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) is proud to announce that the audience measurement (RAM) survey released yesterday indicates a significant growth for some of the SABC radio stations for the period of January 2019 to June 2019. The survey indicates that the biggest radio station in the continent, Ukhozi FM, now reaches a weekly audience of 7.7 million (All adults 15+). This is the largest audience the isiZulu language station has recorded since 2016 when the Broadcast Research Council took over radio measurement.
Johannesburg – Friday, 23 August 2019 – MultiChoice Group’s SuperSport and the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) are pleased to have come to a commercial agreement on terms that will allow the Free to Air Broadcast of the PSL. The agreement between SuperSport and the SABC is for five years and recognizes the need to maintain the financial sustainability of the PSL, as well as ensuring that the SABC delivers on its public mandate of serving the interests of South Africans in regards to Sports.
Johannesburg-Monday, 19 August 2019-The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) will tomorrow (20 August 2019) file an application at the Labour Court, which seeks to have irregular appointments within the Corporation declared unlawful, invalid and set aside. These are appointments that are deemed to have been effected without following relevant SABC policies.
Johannesburg – Monday 12 August 2019 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) regrets to announce the resignation of Dr. Craig van Rooyen as Acting Chief Operations Officer (COO) and Group Executive: Technology. Dr. Van Rooyen’s resignation is due to personal and family reasons. He will be leaving the SABC on 9 September 2019.
Johannesburg – Monday, 5 August 2019 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation’s (SABC) Board has made public the findings of an Independent Commission of Inquiry into interference in the decision making in Newsroom of the SABC (“the Report”) between the years 2012-2017.
In May 2018, the SABC established an independent commission of inquiry and appointed veteran journalist Dr Joe Thloloe as an industry expert to head it. He was supported by Mr. Stephen Tawana from MMM Attorneys.
