Johannesburg – Monday, 31 March 2025 – RSG listeners can look forward to a brand-new Saturday morning program starting in April, hosted by Sue Pyler-Slabbert.
SaterdagSprankel will air every Saturday from 10:00 to 13:00 and will include travel segments, agricultural news, the popular Saturday recipe (now called Sterre in die Kombuis), updates on flea markets, fitness, fun activities for the whole family, and a variety of entertainment.
Sue was previously a co-host of Op en Wakker on RSG and continues to be the producer and presenter of Kapityt, which airs every Saturday evening just after the 21:00 news. In 2017, she was honored with a Koker Award by the Afrikaans Language Council. She is also a versatile actress who has been featured in popular RSG radio dramas such as Die spoke van Duinebult.
Sue says, “I’m looking forward to learning how to be more creative at home, visiting interesting places like tasting festivals and hiking trails, and improving my general well-being.”Listeners will definitely benefit from all these conversations and be able to apply them in their own lives. We paint, eat, and plough together between 10 and 1, every Saturday on RSG.”
Following SaterdagSprankel, NaweekAktueel, hosted by Esté de Klerk, airs at 13:00, followed by Vastrap with Willem Viljoen at 14:00 and Goue Oues, compiled and hosted by Eloise Cupido, at 15:00.
From 16:00, Carla Mackenzie takes over the microphone for Top Treffers, where she travels the world to share the latest hits and new releases with listeners.
RSG Sport airs from 17:00 to 19:00, with the rest of the Saturday evening schedule remaining unchanged.
Reggie Philander will now be spending more time with listeners on Friday nights. Skud Dit will be extended until midnight, airing from 21:20 to 00:00.
Tegnologie met Blaine, previously a segment on Op en Wakker on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, is now becoming a full-fledged program. Blaine Jones remains the host, and it will air every Thursday evening, following Islam in Fokus at 22:20. Listeners can also tune in via podcast.
The Sunday schedule, as well as the rest of the week’s programming, remains unchanged.
Actor Eddie de Jager, known for his roles in films such as Ballade vir ‘n Enkeling and Treurgrond, will now be heard as a continuity presenter on RSG. De Jager, who is also involved with RSG Drama, will keep listeners company every second Sunday morning from 06:00.
“RSG listeners are loyal and outspoken, and they make their voices heard daily,” said RSG’s program manager, Kobus Burger. “The best part is consolidating all the suggestions and giving listeners more of what they crave while also expanding our content and presenter pool.”
