SABC VIDEO ENTERTAINMENT TAKES HOME 15 GOLDEN HORNS SAFTA 2024

SABC Video Entertainment celebrates the achievement of the division at the 2024 South African Film and Television Awards, bagging 15 wins. The Awards were broadcast live last night on SABC2 at 20:00. SABC Video Entertainment is proud to have supported and honoured the outstanding talent that has entertained and inspired audiences locally and globally.

The charismatic duo Lerato “LKG” Kganyago-Ndlala and Skhumba Hlophe hosted the Main Awards show, preceded by the Red-Carpet show hosted by Nomalanga Shozi and Kat Sinivasan.

Guests and viewers were treated to exceptional live performances, starting with an energetic opening act by Zola. Performances by Holly Rey, Brenda Mtambo and Pabi Cooper also added to the Main Awards night entertainment. Acts featured during the Craft Awards show were familiar favourites Keabetswe Motsilanyane (KB), Clint Brink, Danny K, Karlien van Jaarsveld, and content creator and Amapiano artist Khanyisa.

Skeem Saam won four awards out of the seven nominations, taking home the awards in the categories of Best Actress in a TV Soap, where actress Elizabeth Serunye won for her role as Principal Thobakgale, Best Achievement in Scriptwriting in a TV Soap, Best Directing in a TV Soap, and an overall win of Best TV Soap.

SABC1‘s Reno Race won the Best Structured Or Docu-Reality Show, Music Is My Life – Joseph Shabalala and Ladysmith Black Mambazo won the award for Best Achievement in Directing – Documentary, MTV Shuga Down South won the award for Best Youth Programme, whilst the SABC1 signature sport show Sport@10 won the Best Variety Show.

Pale Ya Kosa, broadcast on SABC2, won the Best Made For TV Documentary or Documentary Series, and The Khoekhoe Saga walked away with the Award for Best Educational Programme.

The award for Best Supporting Actor went to the late talented actor Mpho Sebeng for his role as Skhumbuzo on The Estate, which broadcast on S3. Baking With The Reys won the Best Children’s Programme and the Masked Singer Best International Format.

The SAFTA 2024 committee also honoured Generations – The Legacy creator and Executive Producer Mfundi Vundla and industry veteran Arthur Molepo with the Lifetime Achiever Award. Arthur Molepo is known as Captain Malebana on Skeem Saam.

Tebatso Mashishi, who plays Kgosi Mulaudzi on Muvhango, was awarded the Outstanding Person with Disability Contributor Award.

The Craft Awards took place on Friday, 25th of October 2024, and will broadcast on S3 on Saturday, 3rd of November 2024, at 19:30, where Kuhle Adams and Christopher Jaftha hosted the Craft Awards ceremony.
