Johannesburg – Friday, 11 October 2024 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) regrets to inform the public that the public broadcaster will no longer broadcast the much-anticipated AFCON 2025 qualifiers matches scheduled for tonight on SABC+ pop up channels and SABC Sport channel. This is due to New World TV, the rights holder for the sublicensing rights having failed to supply the feed. However, the match between South Africa and Congo is currently underway and broadcast live on SABC 2, SABC radio stations and SABC+.
The following matches have been affected:
| Tournament | Matches | Time |
| AFCON 2025 Qualifiers | Cameroon vs Kenya | 18h00 |
| AFCON 2025 Qualifiers | Nigeria vs Libya | 18h00 |
| AFCON 2025 Qualifiers | Egypt vs Mauritania | 18h00 |
| AFCON 2025 Qualifiers | Senegal vs Malawi | 21h00 |
| AFCON 2025 Qualifiers | Mali vs Guinea-Bissau | 21h00 |
| AFCON 2025 Qualifiers | Angola vs Niger | 21h00 |
| AFCON 2025 Qualifiers | Gabon vs Lesotho | 21h00 |
| AFCON 2025 Qualifiers | Tunisia vs Comoros | 21h00 |
| AFCON 2025 Qualifiers | Ivory Coast vs Sierra Leone | 21h00 |
This is regrettable as the SABC and other broadcasters around the Continent have paid New World TV, rights holder for the sub-licensing rights of these matches. The SABC will engage with New World TV to find a solution regarding this matter.
The SABC would like to apologise to its audiences for any inconvenience this may have caused.
