The main object of the Corporation is to supply broadcasting and information
services and services that are ancillary thereto, to the general public in the
Republic of South Africa and beyond its borders and to achieve the objectives as
set out in the Broadcasting Act 4 of 1999.
The Charter is dealt with by Parliament as part of the broad national policy framework. The Authority monitors and enforces compliance with the provisions of the Charter of the Corporation.
The members of the Board must, when viewed collectively represent a broad cross-section of the population of the Republic; and be persons who are committed to the objects and principles as enunciated in the Charter of the Corporation.
The affairs of the Corporation are administered by an executive committee
consisting of the Group Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer,
Chief Financial Officer and no more than 11 other members.
The object of this Act is to establish & develop a broadcasting policy in the
Republic in the public interest and for that purpose to contribute to democracy, development of society, gender equality, nation building, provision of education and strengthening the spiritual and moral fibre of society
