Johannesburg \u2013 Monday, 17 February 2025<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Lungile Binza as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective 01 March 2025.<\/div>\n
\nMr. Binza has been serving as the Acting COO since February 2024, demonstrating exceptional leadership and a deep commitment to the SABC\u2019s mission. Prior to this acting role, he was the Group Executive: Technology, where he led significant advancements in the organization\u2019s digital transformation initiatives.<\/p>\n

A software engineer by profession, Mr. Binza holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Mathematical Statistics. He has furthered his education with a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration (PDBA) from the University of Pretoria\u2019s Gordon Institute of Business Science, and two master\u2019s degrees: a Master of Commerce in Information Systems from the University of Cape Town and a Master in Business Administration in General Management from the University of Pretoria. He is currently finalizing his PhD in Ethical Artificial Intelligence.<\/p>\n

With over two decades of experience in technology and executive management, Mr. Binza has held key positions in various sectors, including banking and manufacturing. His extensive expertise and visionary approach have been instrumental in driving innovation and operational excellence within the SABC.<\/p>\n

In his capacity as COO, Mr. Binza will continue to oversee the corporation\u2019s operations, ensuring the delivery of quality broadcasting services to our diverse audience.<\/p>\n

The SABC Board and management are confident that under Mr. Binza\u2019s leadership, the organization will continue to thrive and uphold its commitment to serving the public with integrity and excellence.<\/p><\/div>\n
