{"id":16206,"date":"2024-02-14T10:10:13","date_gmt":"2024-02-14T08:10:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sabc.co.za\/sabc\/sabc\/?p=16206"},"modified":"2024-02-14T10:19:26","modified_gmt":"2024-02-14T08:19:26","slug":"media-statement-sabc-alerts-the-public-of-a-fake-tv-licences-email-correspondence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sabc.co.za\/sabc\/media-statement-sabc-alerts-the-public-of-a-fake-tv-licences-email-correspondence\/","title":{"rendered":"MEDIA STATEMENT &#8211; SABC ALERTS THE PUBLIC OF A FAKE TV LICENCES EMAIL CORRESPONDENCE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b><span lang=\"EN-US\" data-ogsc=\"black\">Johannesburg \u2013 Wednesday, 14 February 2024 \u2013\u00a0<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\" data-ogsc=\"black\">The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) would like to alert the public of an email correspondence purporting to be that of the SABC,<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" data-ogsc=\"red\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" data-ogsc=\"black\">threatening the public that they will be issued with a warrant of arrest for non-payment of TV Licence fees.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\" data-ogsc=\"black\">The public is advised to ignore the contents of a correspondence coming from an email address\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:jjm@mega.bw\" data-linkindex=\"0\" data-ogsc=\"\">jjm@mega.bw<\/a>\u00a0(TV License Board). This is not an SABC email address, and the Corporation will not at any point threaten anyone with a warrant of arrest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\" data-ogsc=\"black\">The SABC also advises the public not to download any statement from this fake email as instructed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\" data-ogsc=\"black\">The SABC TV Licenses department can be reached on 011 330 9555 or can be accessed through an e-mail to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:tvlic.info@sabc.co.za\" data-linkindex=\"1\" data-ogsc=\"\">tvlic.info@sabc.co.za<\/a>\u00a0 for a friendly and kind Customer Service.
