ETV's application to amend broadcasting license refused: Icasa

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) has refused ETV's application to amend its broadcasting license.


Maleka says the matter is resolved now that SABC will comply with Icasa’s order.

The Independent Communications Authority (Icasa) has welcomed the SABC's decision to comply with its order to withdraw the ban on the broadcasting of violent protests.


Last week, the communications regulator ordered the SABC to withdraw its decision to stop broadcasting footage of violent protests.

Vodacom on Tuesday put into effect new call termination rates following a ruling by the High Court in Johannesburg, the cellphone operator said.


ICASA Spokesperson Paseka Maleka says they also plan to cut the mobile all termination rate from the current 40 cents a minute year by year to ten cents in 2016.
