The search and rescue operations for two missing miners at the Impala Platinum mine shaft in Rustenburg, North West is still underway, following a fall of ground on Tuesday morning.


Operations at the shaft were suspended when the shaft collapsed on Tuesday, trapping a total of nine workers underground before seven were rescued.

Impala Platinum (Implats) said on Wednesday that two workers were missing after a shaft collapsed at its Rustenburg mine in South Africa.


In a statement, Implats confirmed the incident, stating that a fall of ground occurred at Impala Rustenburg’s one Shaft on Tuesday morning shift.
