W Cape govt put drought relief measures in place

Western Cape Minister of Economic Opportunities Alan Winde says live feed is prioritised in drought relief because of the national regulation.


Agri Northern Cape estimates that about 5 million hectares of grazing land is affected by the drought, an estimated 780 000 animals has also been affected.

The City of Cape Town has put out a tender for the construction of a desalination plant. Mayor Patricia de Lille has announced various interventions to address an on-going drought.


The city's dam levels currently stand at 31.1% with only 21.1% of the water being useable.
