“Shoreline shows what is possible. It shows the potential, and the standards that should be demanded and can be delivered by people in this country. Basically, I’m saying that it’s world class.” - John Robbie, of Radio 702, commenting on the first series of Shoreline.
Following the success of series 1, the adventure continues as we are currently filming and post producing the second series of Shoreline, which will be broadcast on SABC3. Shoreline 1 explored the nearly 3000 kilometers of South African coastline – stretching from the desert border with Namibia on the Atlantic coast southwards around the tip of Africa and then north to the border with Mozambique on the Indian Ocean. It reveals how natural wonders and historic events shaped the lives of coastal communities, and focuses on the natural history, history and archaeology of each region, to build an evolving, encyclopedic picture of the South African coastline. Taking the viewer to the life at the waters edge.
As from the 12th of August at 18:00 SABC3 brings you the condensed 4-part version of Shoreline 1 Reversioned which will be the perfect series to wet the appetite for Shoreline series 2. The reversioned 4 part series will be a ‘summary’ of this award winning series condensed into 3 episodes PLUS one episode of a birds-eye view of our shoreline in never been seen before aerials. The condensed series serves to remind the viewers of the first journey before the second one kicks off. The series was entirely filmed in HD and the latest HD technology in aerial filming, a Cineflex camera, was used to achieve the high quality aerials and the reversioning will also be in HD to make it future proof and sellable.
Supported by Peter Butler and his Jack Russell New-Jack as anchor presenters, a team of experts – an archaeologist, historian and marine biologist – once again take us on this condensed adventure around our 3000 km shoreline. From Alexander Bay on the West Coast right the way around to Kosi Bay on the border with Mozambique! Getting our viewers to relate and engage with the topics by telling the local story in a spirit of optimism and adventure.
To accomplish this, we focus on the unique points of interest for each area and, through this; we build an encyclopedic picture of the South African shoreline. Discovering the secrets, the scenery and the stories that make our coast unique.
