TALENTED MUSICIANS WILL BE COMPETING FOR SA’S NEXT BIG YOUNG BAND ON SABC 3
Wednesday, 9 November 2016 - Talent on Track (TOT) is a brand new 26 episode docu-reality music series produced by Ochre Moving Pictures focusing on discovering SA’s young, original bands which will premiere at 09h00 from 12th November 2016 on SABC 3.
Senior Commissioning Editor for SABC Children, Zandi Nkosi says she is looking forward to the series unearthing a well of inspiring, musical talent. According to Krisen Pather, Ochre Media’s Development Executive of the series will seek to create opportunities for young musicians by matching bands that have creative potential with Producers who are keen to develop young talent.
The journey to finding original young bands has started and over the past few months Talent on Track received hundreds of applicants from a wide range of genres covering jazz, hip hop, R&B, rock, funk and rap. “Music researchers and the producer teams have selected the first ten bands but TOT is still on the hunt for more” says Associate Producer Ingrid Linde.
The show is anchored by twenty-year-old Raymond Motadi (Mon_d) a graduate from the National School of The Arts and host of the drive time show on Tshwane FM. Mon_d is passionate about culture and mad about music.
The first phase of the series involves spending time with the young musos on location and getting to understand what drives them. The bands that make it to round two will be coupled with a Producer in a professional recording studio and given the challenge of honing their songs or coming up with an original song.
Phase three of the series will have the bands perform at a mini concert where celebrities will then be part of the judging process to crown the final winner. The entry process is still open for now and interested bands can submit a song at http://www.talentontrack.co.za/submit/
“You can fake enjoying an awful meal, mourning at a funeral, you can fake liking a movie or being happy at work, you can fake liking somebody, but you just can’t fake talent ”says show Producer Krisen Pather.
