Dali Tambo’s People of the South returns to SABC3! This series of 26 episodes will feature an eclectic mix of personalities, politicians and icons.
People of the South is an up-market docu–entertainment style chat show that is shot on location: in homes, offices, on the street profiling people of substance from all walks of life. People of the South aims to create a strong sense of national identity and evoke a sense of pride in our exceptional achievers.
Dali’s sensitive yet probing interviews are distinctly emotive and informative. They are illustrated by visually inter-cutting archive footage, photographs and personal memorabilia. The episodes culminate in a celebratory dinner – a new feature of the series - where Dali encourages reminiscing, good humour, and a great sense of occasion.
Viewers will enjoy discovering the thoughts, lives and private persona “behind the mask” of the public personality.
The new series of People of the South promises to deliver quality entertainment featuring significant leaders of our society:
• Political and cultural leaders
• Sportsmen and women
• Entertainers, comedians, actors
• Business icons
People of the South: - Inspiring us, uniting us, defining us.
Having spent 30 years in exile, Dali acquired a Bachelor’s Degree in International Affairs and Political Science at the University of Paris. He worked in film and television in the United Kingdom, on productions such as Richard Attenborough’s Cry Freedom.
Upon his return to South Africa in 1990, Dali launched Southern Streams Productions, with his first talk show on M-Net, called Night Moves, revolutionizing the genre. He then moved to the SABC, with his highly successful People of the South, which aired for an uninterrupted 8.5 years.
