JHB High Court sets aside Lornavision contract  |  Monday 31 July 2017 09:00

Johannesburg- Friday, 28 July 2017 - The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) today announced that on the 26th of July 2017, the Johannesburg High Court ruled in favour of the SABC and set aside the LornaVision contract and ordered LornaVision to pay the SABC’s legal costs.

LornaVision was contracted to assist with the collection of television licence fees on behalf of the SABC. As part of its implementation of the Ad Hoc Committee of Parliament’s recommendations, the Interim Board terminated the Corporation’s contract with LornaVision.

Subsequent to this termination, LornaVision instituted legal proceedings, challenging the SABC’s decision.

The SABC welcomes this verdict and looks forward to restoring its direct relationship with its television licence holders.
