'The King’ works for Madiba

2000FM the leading station in providing listeners with live coverage as it happens, will continue celebrating ‘Madiba Day ‘ initiative with a difference by making every day a Mandela Day. 2000FM presenter David Mashabela will be giving away a portion of his salary to a family struggling to register their teen to a tertiary institution.
'The king' as David is affectionately known to his fans ran a competition requesting 2000FM listeners to email or SMS their story to the show about their challenges and the school in which they would like to study.
After being inundated with entries the station is proud to announce three listeners who David will support with an overall amount of R21 600. Ntlelo Buthelezi, Ntombenhle Gumede and Mojalefa Mophete were announced as the winners who will be able to register to further their education.
"I believe that education is what unlocks doors and creates future leaders that is why this initiative is close to my heart , I am also excited that I will be contributing towards the legacy of 67 minutes of community service", said David Mashabela.
To get an in-depth view about the winner’s daily life dreams aspirations and vision while also highlighting the importance of education, David will broadcast his show with Mojalefa Mophete at the 2000 FM studios in Auckland Park.
2000FM's Program Manager, Ms. Bongi Gumbi-Magudulela said, "As a station we are proud to be part of this initiative as giving back to the community is what builds South Africa as a nation."
