Munghana Lonene fm launches Mandela Month.

Embraced by young and old, celebrated by all across race, gender as well as the world at large. Mandela Day has become a worldwide celebrated day but for South Africans the day means a lot more than that. It becomes a day where the whole country take time to reflect and review what has become of their lives since the dawn of democracy, compliments to the fight fought and won by the great Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela and all who went to exile with him to fight for a better South Africa.
Munghana Lonene fm has embraced this month and each year the stations plans both on and off air gets crafted to be in line with what the great Nelson Mandela believed in and strived to achieve. The station ensures that July plans include bringing relief to our communities while restoring dignity through a “Donate a House” initiative that has been going on for more than nine years and the station has to this day donated a total of 15 houses.

During this year’s Mandela month celebrations, Munghana Lonene fm has identified not only a family that will received a complete house but will go further and donate a pre-school to a needy community of Nkuzana Village in the Makhado municipality. The community will be proud owners of a beautiful three class roomed pre-school building with an office and a set of rest rooms starting from Friday 18th July 2014.They will say goodbye to a dilapidated one room which used to house close to 30 kids with no proper ventilation, no chairs, tables or even decent learning material.

The project has attracted the attention of the MEC for Social Development who will attend the hand-over ceremony as well as participate in the 67 minutes dedicated to painting of walls, planting of tress as well as clean the school yard. The department has also committed to donating tables, chairs, learning material and other essentials.

On Saturday 19th July 2014, the station will be handing over a house to a child headed family of two boys aged between 9 and16 years old who lost their parents to HIV/AIDS related diseases. The family resides at Nkomo village in the Greater Giyani municipality. The ceremony will also be graced by the MEC for COGHSTA in Limpopo, who has further commended the station in the efforts to assist the government through these initiatives.

The station also carries the Mandela legacy through our programming plans across all shows. We are also running a competition which will see 4 lucky listeners walk away with a share of R20 000.00 which will be divided in R5000.00 and given away every Friday starting from Friday 4th to Friday 25th July 2014.
