Winning the FIFA 2010 World Cup is a dream of every single South African. South Africans aspire to be great: As a Nation, and as citizens in a quest for national glory.
How do you rally each and every South African behind the national team who has such a daunting task as they carry the dreams and aspirations of a demanding nation on their shoulders? A nation with not much confidence and faith in the national team. Now is the time for South Africans, to live their dreams and participate in a relevant, meaningful and exciting manner. The SABC, Proud official Broadcaster of the FIFA 2010 World Cup, invites fellow South Africans to write a song in support of Bafana. A song that could become, the anthem of a nation on the brink of greatness. All SABC platforms both radio and television have committed to supporting this initiative. Share your song with us in any of the official languages: • A Radio promo will direct listeners to SMS the word Bafana to 34022.• A return message will provide details of how to enter the competition (e.g. the process of recording your song). • SABC will make available Terms & Conditions of Entry as well as associated disclaimer via the return message as well as on the SABC Website. All Entries will be evaluated by a credible panel of music compilers and music managers from different SABC Radio Stations and TV channels, to narrow down the entries to five finalists. These five songs will be played and rotated equally on all the music playing SABC Radio Stations as well as on suitable television programmes. Listeners and viewers will be requested to vote for their favorite song to become the official song for Bafana during the FIFA 2010 World Cup and beyond. Entries open on 2nd March 2010 and close at midnight on the 2 April 2010. The following are the rules of the competition: • SABC will not be held responsible for any callers who leave incomplete, incorrect, or inarticulate details. • Anyone may enter except the employees of SABC their advertising and promotional agencies and their immediate families. • Professional Recording Artists/Companies may not enter the competition. • The song should be no longer than 3 minutes and not less than 1min 30seconds • The competition will run from the 2nd March to 2nd April 2010. • The winners will be notified telephonically. • The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. • All calls are charged at normal cell phone rates. • The promoters reserve the right to alter/cancel the promotion at their discretion.
