A 28-year-old woman arrested for human trafficking has been remanded in custody by the Ubombo Magistrate Court in northern KwaZulu-Natal.

The woman was arrested for trying to sell a child with albinism to a well-known community member who is a known traditional healer in the Manguzi area.

Provincial police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says the suspect was arrested last week at eManguzi in the far north of the province after attempting to sell a 12-year old boy with albinism for R 100 000.

Gwala says the suspect is due back in court for a formal bail application next week.

Police were tipped off and followed up on information about a woman attempting to sell a child who was an albino in the area.

The woman was track down by the police and was arrested.
