A memorial service is to be held for Reeva Steenkamp in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday. She was shot dead allegedly by paralympian Oscar Pistorius at his Pretoria home on Thursday morning.
Pistorius was arrested for Steenkamp's death and is facing a charge of pre-meditated murder. He will appear in court again on February 19 for a bail application.
Steenkamp's family has decided not to follow developments around the murder of their daughter in the news media.
Family spokesperson Michael Steenkamp says, "We know more or less what's been happening and we haven't been watching TV or listening to radio. It’s been different inside the household and family, we would rather play it day by day. The autopsy was done this morning (Friday) - I don’t know what the results of the forensic report are."
Meanwhile, the SABC will air the reality series Tropika Island of Treasure featuring Reeva Steenkamp tonight. Her family has given permission for the series to be broadcast.
The family has also requested privacy to allow them to mourn the passing of their only daughter. The law graduate and model's death has stunned the family into silence.
