Traffic has started to pick up on the N1 South from Polokwane, in Limpopo, to Pretoria. This, as holiday-makers and some Zion Christian Church (ZCC) St Engenas members head back to Gauteng and other provinces.

Traffic spokesperson, Kagiso Mootane, says they expect traffic congestion on the R71, around Moria, from this afternoon until tomorrow.  Hundreds of buses and minibuses will be leaving the church headquarters after the main sermon for their annual spring gathering.

Mootane says there have been few accidents on the province's roads since the start of the long weekend.  "We would like to thank our motorists for obeying the mandate from our MEC that they cut back coming to Boyne with their small vehicles. They have used busses which allow the traffic to flow more easily," says Mootane.

He says that there have only been three accidents, where three died. One on the N1 South from Vhembe District and another one in Capricorn around Matlala. "The Department asks drivers not to drink and drive and to adhere to, and not exceed, the speed limit," added Mootane.
