Seven men, four dressed in AWB uniforms, have been arrested at Worcester in the Boland. They were found with an assortment of arms and ammunition.Their ages range from 33 to 66.
The seven were arrested at a traffic light en-route from Cape Town to De Doorns. That's the epicentre of the farmworkers' strike.
Earlier, Cosatu warned that private security companies and right-wing organisations may arm themselves to protect farms.
The men face charges of the possession of unlicenced firearms and 60 rounds of ammunition.
The Hawks have taken over the case and they say the men have been taken to various police stations in Cape Town.
It's unclear whether the arrests are linked to the on-going strike in the farming sector in the Boland and it's also unclear whether they'd been hired by any farmers.
The men's court appearance has not yet been confirmed.
