Former US president Bill Clinton has met with his South African counterpart, Nelson Mandela, at his home in Qunu in the Eastern Cape to wish him well on his 94th birthday tomorrow.
After landing in uMthatha, Clinton went to a school close to Madiba’s house to address the community before meeting his long-time friend. Clinton has described Madiba's love for children and his ability to forgive as one of his greatest traits.
"The important thing about Madiba's life and the reason South Africa is stable now is because he was willing to share the future, even with the people that imprisoned him. It has been a great honour of my life to be Madiba's friend," says Clinton.
He says he wants to devote the time that he and Mandela have left on this earth to remind the young people of the world to help share the future.
The former SA president will celebrate his birthday tomorrow. A range of activities are underway to mark his birthday.
