The Department of Basic Education's long awaited catch-up programme is expected to start today at Limpopo schools affected by late delivery of textbooks. More than 170 000 Grade 10 learners will converge at their respective high schools, where the plan will be implemented.
The catch-up lessons will last the entire week. The department says all the learner support material needed for the lessons has been sent to the schools and will be distributed to learners today.
The Basic Education Department said last week that R70-million had been set aside for the catch-up plan. The catch-up plan came after SECTION 27 took the department to court following the non delivery of CAPS text books to grades one, two three and ten.
