Police have launched a manhunt for an unknown number of suspects following a foiled cash-in-transit heist outside Bloemfontein.

Police have launched a manhunt for an unknown number of suspects following a foiled cash-in-transit heist outside Bloemfontein.

A security guard is recovering at a hospital after he was shot in the leg during the attack.

Hawks Spokesperson Sifiso Nyakane says, “The unknown number of suspects were driving two vehicles, Ford Ranger and Mazda bakkie. They started by shooting at an escort vehicle and came to a standstill and they proceeded to the money vehicle. They also shot at it. It also came to standstill. The security officers at the back, and that's where they were told to stand still and lie down. They were robbed of their two firearms. No money was taken. Four suspects were arrested at the scene and a manhunt for the remaining suspects is underway.”
