Eight students have been injured after clashing with police and security guards at the troubled University of KwaZulu-Natal's Westville campus, near Durban.
Police were called in to remove students from the campus after all academic programmes were suspended.
Yesterday, students also ran riot demanding additional accommodation and financial aid. The University has since obtained an interdict to force the protesting students off campus.
The university says it will notify all students via e-mail, sms and social networks when lectures resume.
The Westville Campus has temporarily suspended its academic programme after students blocked the main entrance to the campus with burning tyres, and stoned passing vehicles.
University spokesperson Nomonde Mbadi says at least three people were arrested.
