The woman dubbed the "Lion-Mama" who was acquitted of murder and two counts of attempted murder is calling for the harshest sentences for the two men who raped her daughter.

The case against the two suspects was postponed to 30th October in the Lady Frere Magistrate's Court in the Eastern Cape.

The case gripped the nation when the mother of the rape victim caught the suspects red-handed and allegedly stabbed and killed one and injured the other two.

During their next court appearance a High Court date will be set for trial.

The suspects have abandoned their bid to get bail.

"Lion-Mama" says her daughter is still paranoid and traumatised.

"We still live in fear and we live alone. Crime is very rife in our parts. We wish government could intervene, even if they at least offer us mobile police station because it is very difficult to report crime here,” said a relative who did not want to named.

She has added that she is grateful for the funds collected in her name although she has not yet received them.

She believes a harsh sentence for the suspects will send a strong message.
