ANC presidential candidate Lindiwe Sisulu has dismissed reports that she will be joining Cyril Ramaphosa's presidential campaign.

Reports surfaced over the weekend suggesting Sisulu would be roped into Ramaphosa's campaign as a potential Deputy President.

Sisulu was speaking on the sidelines of a handover of government houses for military veterans in Kimberley.

Sisulu made it clear she would not abandon her campaign for the ANC presidency. She said the reports were an attempt to derail her campaign.

"My own team is up in arms and very upset because it would seem like a decampaigning of their own so no definitely that not on the cards right now."

As Human Settlements Minister, Sisulu announced talks with the Northern Cape government to make the province a pilot for the eradication of informal settlements in the country. The province currently has a backlog of 31 thousand houses.

"In discussions we had with the MEC and the mayors we think it is possible for us to use the Northern Cape as pilot project to clear all informal settlements and clear the backlog of 31 000 and have a province that is actually a model of what South Africa will be like when we don't have any informal settlements."

Sisulu has handed over thirty eight houses to military veterans in the province.
