The veld fire that has been burning near the Oudekraal nature reserve in Camps Bay since Wednesday afternoon has not been contained as yet.

It is burning high up against the mountain slopes and the dense and dry vegetation is hampering fire fighting efforts.

Some rain fell early on Thursday morning, but not enough to quench the fire. SANParks spokesperson Merle Collins says there is no threat to property.

“All indications are that it's going to be a very busy day or even a very busy couple of days to try and contain this fire. They can't really assess during the night, so they'll do a whole recce this morning to see if the fire hasn't gone to the back table of Table Mountain. It hasn't been contained and crews are still in scene trying to contain it,” Collins said.
