The Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation has collaborated with Stellenbosch University and an international NGO to fight gender-based violence.
Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu is a global leader that has touched the lives of people from all walks of life.
And gender-based violence is an issue very close to his heart.
"For goodness sake woman have to be acknowledged for who they are...we have undermined our humanity for too long. Just like racists who thought they were better than anyone else," says Tutu.
The collaboration between three partners wants men and women to jointly confront the issues plaguing our society.
Rev Cynthia Brix of Gender Reconciliation International says:"Gender-based violence affects everyone. Women in the world are treated horribly. Men are afflicted by this and this is not about male bashing, it is about bringing male and female together.
The university will train young people on gender reconciliation.
Forums and workshops inspiring change in society will also be held.
