The Democratic Alliance (DA) has won the first round in its case against the SABC over the public broadcaster's controversial decision to pull the party's radio and television advertisements.

The DA adverts will go back on air on Thursday. The DA took the SABC to the Independent Communications Authority after the broadcaster canned the ads, claiming they incited violence.

Icasa referred the case to the Complaints and Compliance committee, which has ruled in the DA's favour. The "Ayisafani" TV advert was pulled off the air last week, along with five radio advertisements.

The advert shows the DA's Gauteng premier candidate and spokesperson, Mmusi Maimane, standing in front of a mirror talking about the current state of the country.

Maimane says life today is better than it was 20 years ago and gives credit to great leaders whom he believes have taken the country forward.
