Cosatu in the North West will mark Women's Day by staging a march in Klerksdorp against the abuse of women and children.

The labour federation says many cases of gender-based violence have occurred both in workplaces and communities in the area.

Earlier this year a 15-year-old girl was burnt to death in the Jouberton area, allegedly by a suspect known to the family.

Provincial Cosatu secretary Job Dliso says they will be marching to end gender based violence.

“We will be marching to make sure that all cases of  abuse, the killing especially brutal killing of women and children must be sped up, investigations must be sped up also. We will also making a call to the NPA and our government must make sure that they oppose bail to perpetrators and if found guilty, they must rot in jail.”
