Service delivery protests spread across Joburg

Service delivery protests have mushroomed in many parts Johannesburg, following a violent protest action in Eldorado Park on Monday. (SABC)

The Johannesburg Metro Police is warning motorists that certain roads have been blockaded in Ennerdale, in the South due to protest action.

This after residents went on an rampage blocking roads demanding better service delivery and development in the area.

JMPD Spokesperson Wayne Minnaar says several roads have been blocked my protestors.

“Certain roads are blocked off inside Ennerdale, as well as Lolly. Provincial road and Gems road has been blockaded. There are also some roads blocked off in Orange farm.”

This follows violent protest action in Eldorado Park on Monday which seem to have spread to other parts of the city.

Protests are also brewing in Lawley.

Community Leader Marsh Kess, says they are tired of non-development in their area.
