Police have called on parents to report their missing children, especially if they are young girls. This comes in the wake of a frantic search for more than 10 girls who went missing at Eshowe, in the northern KwaZulu-Natal.

The girls have been missing for almost three weeks. A 23-year-old woman says she managed to escape from a container, at a sugar cane field, where their captors were taking turns in raping them.

Police Spokesperson, Vincent Mdunge, says the girls were taken from various parts of the province.

He says that a case of kidnapping for the girls that were kidnapped and sexually molested in Eshowe area from the 12th of this month has been registered at Eshowe Police Station.

Mdunge says that the case is currently pending police investigation although there has not been any arrest at this stage.

“We have advanced an appeal to all members of the public, who may have heard of anything related to this case, to inform the police so that we ca launch a rescue mission,” he added.
