Road carnage continues ahead of Christmas

Four people have died in an accident in Port Elizabeth. Police spokesperson Alwin Labans says five other people were seriously injured and have been admitted to hospital. The minibus accident happened on a stretch of the N-2 in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro which skirts Port Elizabeth on the way to the West.

In the Western Cape, a six-year-old boy was killed in an accident, when the car he and his family were in overturned on the N-1 between Beaufort West and Leeu-Gamka in the Karoo. Provincial Traffic Chief, Kenny Africa, says the boy and his family were on holiday, and travelling from Johannesburg to Cape Town when the accident happened.

 

 

The driver fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle

" The driver fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle overturned. One person, a six-year old boy died. Again, earlier this morning between Touwsriver and Laingsburg and pedestrian was knocked down by a motor vehicle. The pedestrian also died," says Africa.
