The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) in the North West province, has joined other organisations calling for the immediate resignation of Higher Education Deputy Minister Mduduzi Manana.

This is in relation to the alleged assault of two women at a Johannesburg night club last weekend.

Manana appeared on Thursday at the Randburg Magistrate Court, on two charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Manana has been granted bail of R5 000 and is expected to be back in court on the 13th of September.

ANC Youth League Spokesperson, Tshiamo Tsotetsi says, “The ANC Youth League in the North West province is hereby calling on comrade Mduduzi Manana to resign as both Deputy Minister and member of Parliament. We further note and appreciate the fact that the said comrade has unconditionally apologised to society for his wild animal behaviour. We refuse to accept it as a norm that the African National Congress (ANC) public representatives can compromise the standing of the organisation and society and undo the damage with the simple apology.”
