Transport MEC, Ismail Vadi, disclosed this while answering questions at the legislature in
The two sisters said they were not aware that chewing gum was not allowed on the Gautrain. They claim to have been detained by security guards for four hours before being released after signing a R700 penalty.
Vadi says he received a briefing from the Gautrain CEO on the matter and that he fully supports the action taken by the security guards.
Vadi has denied reports that the sisters were detained for four hours saying they were instead detained for two and a half hours.
