Zambia and Ethiopia played to a 1 all draw in a heated Group C Africa Cup of Nations clash at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
Ethiopia, back amongst Africa's finest for the first time in more than 30 years gave the defending champions, Zambia a scare early on in the first half.
When Chisamba Lungu brought down Salahdin Seid in the area, Ethiopia had the perfect opportunity to take the lead, but it was a weak effort by Seid, saved by Kennedy Mweene, the Walya Antelopes may just they blown their chances.
Goalkeeper Jemal Tassaw plunged the East Africans into further turmoil with a kung fu kick on Chisamba, with Ethiopia down to 10 men.
Just before the break Collins Mbesuma popped up in the middle of the defence to send the ball into the back of the net. Celebrations were curtailed as the Ethiopian supporters hurled vuvuzelas in disgust. Things were threatening to get out of hand.
Into the second half and out of the blue Adane Girma rifled in a powerful shot for the equaliser, the captain leading by example.
However, neither side could break that deadlock, one all was how it ended.
The winner of the tournament will bag $1.5 Million.
The Confederation of African Football will spend $10 million in total prize money.
