The South African Communist Party (SACP) is celebrating 91 years of its existence. The party says it will never pull out of its alliance with the ruling party the ANC.
Party General Secretary Blade Nzimande says an attack on the ruling party is an attack on the SACP. The SACP has vowed to continue fighting side by side with the ANC.
Formed at the same time as the Communist party in China the SACP says it wants to push towards a socialist order.
ANC Secretary General Gwede Mantashe says members of the SACP need to distinguish themselves. He urged them to be reliable and hard working and continue being the vanguard.
Delivering its message of support Congress of the South African Trade Unions says the SACP has matured in its role. It has urged it to continue being the emotive force of the working class in the country.
