The Managing Director for Banking Association of South Africa Cas Coovadia says it was the first time in a couple of years that President Jacob Zuma concentrated on the economy and acknowledged that South Africa is facing an economic crisis.
Coovadia says the speech delivered by the president in the State-of-the-Nation Address (SONA) indicated to government that the country needs to address critical economic issues.
He stated that President Zuma created a platform for government to work toward the vision of the National Development Plan (NDP) to bring economic growth.
President Zuma was giving his 2016 State of the Nation Address on February 11 to outline key government business.
