Two ANC leaders have been gunned down on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast. This brings to four the number of party members killed in the area in two months.
The Chairperson of the Oshabeni branch Dumisani Malunga and secretary Bheki Chiliza were shot dead last night. The two were on their way home from an ANC meeting when the incident happened.
Police say unknown gunmen approached the vehicle they were travelling in and opened fire. The two died instantly.
Last month, Wandile Mkhize the ANC's chief whip at Hibiscus Coast Municipality was ambushed and killed outside his home. Mkhize's friend Nhlakanipho Shabane was also shot in the attack. He died three weeks later.
The ANC in the province says it's concerned about the recent killings. A task team led by the Hawks has been set up to investigate the murders.
