The Lesotho government will hold a memorial service to honour the four Lesotho nationals who lost their lives in the violence at the Lonmin platinum mine in Marikana, in the North West, earlier this month.

The service will be held in the capital Maseru, tomorrow.

A statement from the Employment and Labour Ministry says the four Lesotho nationals were from Lithoteng, Likolobeng, Semonkong and Butha-Buthe.

They have been positively identified.

Lesotho's Labour and Employment Minister, Lebesa Maloi, is expected to lead the service.

Meanwhile, a large crowd of striking Lonmin Platinum mine workers has gathered at Nkaneng in Wonderkop, waiting for a report from the peace accord meeting in Rustenburg.

The meeting was adjourned yesterday, to give the workers' representatives an opportunity to report back to the workers. The meeting was expected to reconvene a short while ago.

The Labour Department convened the meeting, which is aimed at finding solutions and bringing peace and stability to Lonmin, following a violent illegal strike.

The workers are demanding a R12500 salary.

A total of 44 people have been left dead and more than 70 others wounded in the violence. More than 250 miners are facing public service and murder charges in the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate's Court.
