Mining magnate Patrice Motsepe's foundation is to donate R500 million nationwide over the next three to five years(SABC)
Mining magnate Patrice Motsepe has expressed confidence in his drive of investing R10 million in alleviating poverty, unemployment and inequality in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality.
Motsepe was in Port Elizabeth on Monday where a development forum was selected. This is part of the Motsepe foundation's donation of R500 Million to all nine provinces over the next three to five years.
Motsepe says despite there being groups who may want to hijack the initiative for personal interests, the initiative will be a success.
He says he is confident that they will make a difference. Motsepe says as a family they have an obligation to make a contribution to the county as he was a beneficiary of care and love as a young boy.
A representative of the Motsepe Foundation, Kenneth Makhanya says forums need to start accepting applications for assistance by next month to attend to the needs of people.
Makhanya says there is a high sense of urgency on their side. He added that R200 million is to be allocated nationwide by the 30th of June next year.
